PDF download blank, what I missed

Customer in a village. He opened the file. White. Like a new copy book. He called. Bhai khali page bheja. I said no. I saw the preview. Preview had items. PDF had snow.

I sat on the stool. Shame. Then I found the list of things I missed. Not one thing. A small festival of misses.

PDF download blank, what actually happened

First miss. I filled shop name. Buyer name. I did not add a real item row. I thought the preview was showing an example line. Example was empty in the PDF engine. Preview I had scrolled to the header only. Header looks like a bill. Body was hollow. Download. White table. I now add at least one item. Qty. Rate. I look at the preview total. If total is zero, I do not download. Zero is a clue.

Second miss. Popup. Phone asked allow download. I pressed no because I was fighting a UPI. Then I thought download happened. File manager had an old PDF from last week. I sent the old one. Customer saw last week buyer name. Different fight. Or I sent nothing and he got a zero kb file. Allow the download. See the new time stamp. Today 11:40. Not last Tuesday.

Third miss. In-app browser. Facebook ad to the tool. Download button sleepy. Chrome download works. I copy the link, open Chrome, fill again, download. Extra work. Less snow.

Fourth miss. I named the file in my head. Bill.pdf. Phone saved as download(3).pdf. I sent download(2).pdf which was a blank test. Always open the file before send. Open. See items. Then send. Do not send from the notification shade without opening. Notification is a liar sometimes.

Fifth miss. I switched app while PDF was making. UPI sound. I jumped. PDF made half. White. I wait now. Two seconds. Let the file finish. Then I open.

BillOnDesk works in the browser. No login. No cloud folder of my bills. If I close the tab, the form may die. If I download before close, I have a file. If I close before download, I have a story for the customer and no file. I fill. I download. I then close. Order like tea. Water first. Milk later. Not the other way.

I use simple invoice for most village sends. Preview below the form on phone. I scroll the preview. Items. Total. DRAFT. If preview is blank, PDF will not become a novel. Fill the form. The PDF is a photo of what you filled. Empty form, empty photo.

People think download means the site will invent a bill from my GSTIN. No. Site is not GSTN. It does not pull my sales. It prints my typing. If I type nothing, it prints nothing. This is fair. I was not fair to the site when I shouted.

Sixth miss. Ad block or some cleaner app. A helper installed a cleaner. It killed the download script. PDF white or button dead. I uninstalled. I do not run three cleaners on a billing phone.

Seventh miss. Storage full. 200 WhatsApp videos of a wedding. Download failed. White or no file. I deleted videos. PDF came. Shop phone is not a cinema.

Eighth miss. I opened the PDF in a broken viewer that shows white for some files. Customer had the same. I asked him to open in another app. Items were there. Not always my fault. Sometimes the viewer. I still open at my side first. If I see items, I tell him change viewer. If I see white, it is me.

Ninth miss. I put all text in the notes and nothing in the item table. Notes are notes. Table is table. PDF table empty. Notes maybe on page. Looked blank from far. I put goods in the table.

Tenth. Landscape photo of the screen. I did not download. I screenshot a white area. Sent photo. He zoomed. Nothing. Download is a button. Screenshot of the wrong scroll is not a bill.

I write this like a list because I did all of them in four months. I am not proud.

What a good PDF has. Shop name. Buyer. At least one item. Qty. Rate. Total not zero unless it is a true zero which is rare. DRAFT mark. My number series. Date.

How I print the simple invoice

I open it. I pinch zoom the total. Then WhatsApp. Caption. Bill draft. Not official GST. Please confirm items.

Caption helps. He knows it is draft. BillOnDesk is not GSTN. He should not take it to a GST office as a filed document. It is a shop PDF.

If he needs print, he can print the PDF. If his print cuts, that is margins. I wrote that for phone print. PDF print can cut too. He should see preview.

I do not password the PDF. Customer cannot open. Then he says blank. It is locked. I stopped using random password. No need for a 400 rupee cover.

I do not put 20 blank rows. Some people think blank rows look corporate. PDF gets long and the first page looks emptyish. Fill real rows.

Hindi. He asked Hindi numbers. PDF is English tool. I say numbers are numbers. I do not search a hack to make official Hindi GST hologram. No hologram. No Ashoka. If he wants, I write amount in words. Words he can read.

When PDF is truly blank after I filled, I try another phone. My Redmi versus brother phone. If brother works, my browser is the patient. Clear cache. I do not clear cache every hour. Only when blank after a good fill.

I do not tap download five times. Five files. I send the wrong one. One tap. Wait. Open. Send.

I keep one test PDF in a folder. If a helper says tool is blank, I make him fill a tea item 10 rupees. Download. Open. If tea shows, tool is alive. If tea white, phone problem. Tea test. Cheap.

I will not tell you to fake a GST invoice because PDF failed. If PDF fails, reprint at xerox from the screen, or write notebook, or try Chrome. Do not go to a fellow who prints hologram tax invoices. That is a crime road. My blank PDF is a technical miss. Fake invoice is a legal miss. Different.

Sujangarh evening. Generator. Site reload. Form empty. I had not downloaded. Generator taught me. Download before the light dies. Notebook the number. Then if light dies, I have file in downloads.

I rename the file SUJ-MS and the number. If I cannot rename, I caption WhatsApp with the number. Future me can search chat.

Blank PDF is usually me. Empty rows. Denied popup. Wrong file sent. In-app. Storage. Closed tab. I check this list before I blame the website.

Website can have a bug. If tea test fails on two phones, I wait or I print from preview. I still do not invent numbers.

Use simple invoice. Fill items. See preview total. Allow download. Open the file. Then send.

If it is white, go down this list. Slow. The customer in the village is not joking. He received snow. You can send the filled one in five minutes if you find which miss it was.

Mine was empty item row the first time. The preview header fooled me. I do not trust a header without a total now.

Total is the heartbeat. If I cannot see heartbeat, I do not download.

Draft. Honest. Whole page with items. That is a PDF worth sending.
